Increasingly, over the past few years, social media has presented
us countless videos where people are asked about what is in their
bags. This parasocial media phenomena can be described as an
online ad-based business model for fandom communities but also as
a way for people to express their story through what they carry.
Holding a bag means to hold our crumpled receipts and survival
gear for the day but at the same time affects and vulnerability.
On Carrying: Zumbidos and the Liminal” is an exhibition that gossips
around into the sediments of these dissonances — or zumbidos (hum
in Spanish) — through the lens of a lethargic voyeurism. By reframing
the bag not as a passive container but as a sustained latent friction, this
exhibition explores the paradigms of navigating a crisis-driven logic.
