This work uses fiction as a method to examine the communication strategies of the Kunstkamera - a Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography in St. Petersburg, Russia. A fictional character named Missing is created as an attempt to highlight how gaps between objective and embodied ways of knowing in museum communication can be experienced and felt, at the same time, emphasizing that absence is not merely the omission of physical material but has its own agency. With close attention to conversations with former restorer N., personal reflections on museum visits, and analysis of the museum's digital virtual tours, this work reveals how Kunstkamera communicates not only through what it displays, but also through what it omits, and how these omissions continue to shape and contribute to our understanding of history and cultural artefacts.
